Trust

They climbed a boulder on the beach,
animalistic and childlike.
As she mounted to the other side
her sandals were like paper. 
He beckoned from below
arms outstretched...
"Jump. I'll catch you."
A trustworthy gesture,
oblivious to her truth. 

She knew if she jumped 
her slip could be severe.
Leaning back from the impulse
to oblige at all costs,
she planned her next step.
Following adjustments
she gracefully paved her way.
